Things I must thank God for tonight...

Ray and I went to our last night of the Fireproof seminar series.  It was a beautiful dinner.  I was sitting next to my good friend Laura who just got married 8 months ago and across from us were an older couple who we had come to love since attending the series.  Small group seminars are great for developing friendships.  After dinner we all got in a big circle each of us prayed and we prayed for those who were struggling in their relationships.  Then to my surprise the group picked Ray and I out, since we are not married--all the married couples were to give their advise to us!   They gave good advise:  allow each other to have our own personalities, work together as a team, forgive each other, have fun with each other, spend time with each other, never stop dating, when you think that you can't stand him/her anymore--remember that you made a promise--and love him/her the way you did in the beginning, never let the sun go down on a "spant"... they were all so heartfelt, it was great...

Tonight as Ray and I talked we talked about how soon Jesus is coming... how the economy is so uncertain... how he is afraid to leave his job in order to pursue more education in such questionable economic times.  How the home he just bought a few years ago is worth about half of what he paid for.  Ray has always been one to work hard and plan ahead but he realizes even with the best planning and work that he can do--this may not be enough in the times that we may be facing.

We had just read an article about how easily the Sunday laws can be ushered in these unstable economic times... and then at the dinner the head elder had recited the miracle story that had kept him and his wife close to each other.  It was at a time when they were about to lose their home and they only had $10 in the bank.  He had argued with his wife that God could not send them money... God could send him a job... but God could not send them money... that very day... God sent them a $1000 check from someone they hardly knew.  He was so sure that it was a mistake that he went to the man that had written the check and stated "you must have made a mistake"... the man said, "no, I couldn't sleep last night because the Lord told me you needed this money, it is a bonus I received and I do not need it."

As Ray and I talked about the story.  Ray said "Cristy we must trust God with our future and we must not make plans for the future until he are sure that it is God's guiding."  Together tonight we admitted we haven't been as close to God as we have been in the past and we both want to go back to God and serve Him fully.  I am so happy and just praise God that through all my mistakes he can make something so beautiful.

happiness...

Following God's will is the sometimes the hardest thing you will do--but if you do it--you will find so much happiness that you never knew existed.

Prayermeeting

At prayermeeting tonight, we sang a song that touched me so much.  It has a beautiful melody and powerful message.

O holy Dove of God descending, You are the love that knows no ending, All of our shattered dreams You're mending, Spirit, now live in me.

O holy Wind of God now blowing, You are the seed that God is sowing.  You are the life that starts us growing: Spririt, now live in me.

O holy Rain of God now falling, You make the Word of God entralling, You are that inner voice now calling:  Spirit, now live in me.

O holy Flame of God now burning, You are the power of Christ returning, You are the answer to our yearning: Spirit, now live in me.

I'm 28 today.  I really don't feel any older--but time does seems to be passing so quickly--I never imagined I'd be 28 I always thought Jesus would come before that--surely He is coming soon.
